Its hard not to get excited about this 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible. Theres been great care and investment in taking pride in originality from the brown paint to the fantastic gold interior. But more than just appearanceand#44; the numbers-matching 400ci V8 and four-speed manual means this drop top is also a rapid ride.

This cars original style is the key to its charm. Thats why its still wearing its factory-correct code-61 Espresso Brown. But you might notice it a little more. There was a nice investment in making sure a respray stayed with the factory colorand#44; and adding a newer white electric folding roof. The result is a factory-like presentation that has the allure of a modern shine and crispness. Its this kind of originality with subtle upgrades that you will see elsewhereand#44; too. The design of these first-gen cars really lived up to the Firebird nameand#44; with a beak-like nose and slotted sheetmetal that looks like a bird in flight. Its an icon that looks best when complete. Thats why trimand#44; dual scoop hood with proper 400 badgesand#44; Firebird side marker lightsand#44; and Rally II wheels are essential to this well-represented droptop.

Perhaps most remarkablyand#44; the interior is completely original. Not only does the code 202 Gold vinyl upholstery look great against the Espresso Brown paintand#44; but it is in fantastic condition. Sure the seats have a few signs of people sitting in them over the yearsand#44; but you can still slide behind the wheel of this Firebird for a long trip without complaints. Carpetsand#44; door panelsand#44; and even the steering wheel are untouched 1969 pieces and the burled walnut appliques on the dash and console havent been baked by the sun. Original gauges still show clear lenses and bright markings and the factory AM/FM radio still lives in the center of the dash... and yes you get an 8-track – its that original. Even Hurst shifters were available on the Pontiacs back then. But once againand#44; the theme of subtle upgrades is seen with the oil pressure and engine temperature gauges are nice additions to know everything thats going on with this Firebird.

On a car this original so farand#44; youre going to be excited to lift the hood. Not only is that the numbers-matching 400 cubic-inch powerplant insideand#44; but also everyone will have no trouble believing itand#44; tooand#44; thanks to the honest appearance of the engine bay. If you do look a little closerand#44; youll see performance upgrades like a Holley four-barrel carburetorand#44; Edelbrock Performer intakeand#44; and long tube headers. So you get a great original presentation to show offand#44; but an extra wallop of power for the road. You can here this added power through the dual exhaustand#44; and youre in complete control of it all with the four-speed manual transmission. This performance Pontiac also feels great on the road thanks to features like power steering and BF Goodrich tires.

Complete with Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) documentationand#44; this is truly an interesting droptop with all the right originality. And with less than 11and#44;700 of these builtand#44; over 45 years agoand#44; its getting harder and harder to find V8 examples that are so faithful to the way Pontiac made their performance machines. So if youve been looking for a cut-above Firebirdand#44; you need to hurry and call today!!!
